about me.

I want to make things move. Help people move. Create a more accessible world, so everyone can get everything out of themselves. I believe in using technological innovation to create equity in the world, creating movement in the process.

identity.

My whole life I have been working towards increasing the impact I can make on people’s lives. This is mostly driven by a strong sense of community and equality. Seeing people struggle, especially because of unfair or easily solvable reasons, really inspires me to solve problems and create a better world. Within (mental) healthcare, there are people whose lives can be improved significantly simply by paying attention to them, and technology can play a big role in the solutions they need.

I like structure in my work, which is reflected in my design processes and style of teamwork. I plan ahead my projects with basic structure, and then let the developments of the project flow me from each step to the next. Within the team I will keep others on this track as well, making sure important parts of the project are not forgotten and people stay motivated to move towards the goal.

In my design, I work towards functional aesthetics and like researching how form and function tend to intertwine. Within this intricate puzzle I love working with electronics, mechanics and code to create the functionality I am looking for, and enjoy making things move within the products I create. I get excited by the creation of action-reaction pathways in either the digital or physical world. I aim to design wearable or portable devices to help people in their every-day lives, with a strong interest in shape-changing interfaces.

I like innovation and making new things that will make a difference. Working with the user every step of the way in this process of problem solving is extremely important to me, both in an ethical and a social context. Marketing, making products look good and creating business models to make money are generally last concerns for me, as I believe creating new functionality for people lacking functionality has a priority over profit-making.
